Woodhall Drive
A new build house on a leafy 1970's estate site in Dulwich. The scheme is a complex collage of timber, slate and brick elements that draw from the context but interpret it in a more contemporary manner.
Upper floors are expressed as lightweight volumes sitting over a masonry base, which extends into the surrounding gardens forming outdoor terraces for sitting in. Full height glazed openings allow views across the landscaped grounds, and a partially buried basement level provides a pool, sauna & steam room, gym, cinema room and wine cellar.
Spacious bedroom suites with dressing rooms and bathrooms are contained within, and an open top-lit staircase runs vertically through the house creating a lively gallery for displaying objets d’art. At ground level, the spaces transition from the formal dining and sitting rooms closest to the drive, into a generous open plan kitchen and living area, with breakfast bar and relaxed seating for the family to come together.
Sedum roofs support the biodiversity of the site, and solar panels, rainwater harvesting and high levels of insulation are incorporated into the proposals.
