AJ Pavilion for All

Our entry for the AJ Pavilion for All competition proposes a place, rather than an object, to define a new centre for Clitterhouse Playing Fields. Our pavilion straddles the conjunction of the various paths that cross the site. It defines a meeting place, an assembly point, a debriefing point, a place to rest, to shelter. The calm, flowing, highly insulated, timber CLT structure is wrapped in a robust timber cladding: a lightweight, carbon positive, Intervention into the gentle slopes of the site. The subtle inflection of the roof form echoes the curved horizons of the site to help bind it to the setting.
