Jamal Badrashi BA(Cantab) DipArch - Director
Jamal established IBLA (as Inglis Badrashi) with Patrick Inglis in 2000, and is one of three Directors of the practice. He is responsible for the conception and design development of IBLA's projects, and for ensuring a consistent design approach across the office.
Prior to founding IBLA, he worked at Panter Hudspith Architects (1996-1999) where he was responsible for two major award-winning developments in York: a £32.3m retail development (RIBA Regional Award 2000), and a £3.5m 3-screen Arts Cinema (Civic Trust Award 2000). He has also worked at the Government Office for London, acting as the Thames Advisory Group Facilitator and preparing Supplementary Planning Guidance for the Thames.
Jamal completed his Diploma from Cambridge University with Distinction, in 1993, and his work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the RIBA Presidents Medal Bronze and Silver Category Exhibitions, and in Berlin as part of Die Latente Stadt Exhibition. He has taught at Cambridge University Department of Architecture for a number of years, running a Design Studio between 2000 and 2004, with fellow director Kim Loddo. He has also been a visiting critic at Cambridge, Kingston and Thames Valley Universities and is currently an External Examiner at Cambridge University.
